Gina DiMatteo is an artist and educator whose passion for the visual arts has inspired a lifetime of investment in the creative process, exploring the many technical and imaginative approaches across the breadth of her illustrative and painted works. A native of the Bronx, New York, Gina taught art in several New York City public schools where she believed establishing a strong, traditional foundation was only the first step into the expanse of an artist’s journey–further empowering her students to remain curious and observant as they built up their own strong, inspired voices. Gina’s experience as an educator is deeply enmeshed with her identity as an artist, furthering her interest in learning to wield a diverse range of styles and materials, seeking to enrich her future works. Watercolor serves as Gina’s primary medium–channeling the inspiration gleaned from her artistic exploration as she finds freedom in its expressive nature, fluidity and manipulable depth. Loyal to her creative spirit, Gina remains dedicated to her study of the visual arts–seeking to light the spark of inspiration not only within herself, but in her community as well.
