The Young Critics Club is made up of 6th-, 7th-, and 8th-graders that get together to read brand-new, just published books. Throughout the year, they read and review over thirty books of every genre and cultivate a list of their Favorite Books of the Year to recommend to their peers!
The Club meets on alternate Wednesdays year-round at 4 PM. At each meeting, Young Critics get to know each other better with a book-themed game, then grab a snack and discuss their recent reads. Then, Ms. Jen and Mrs. Woodward booktalk a new book and share their new finds with the group. Young Critics get first dibs on these selections and rate and report back at the next meeting.
How Can I Join?
The application period for the 2026-2027 School Year has closed. YCC is full for 2026-2027. Applications for the 2027-2028 school year will open in May 2027.
