Library Cards

  • To register for a new library card online or to renew your current library card, click here. Your new card or renewal will be processed pending your in-person visit to the Library at your earliest convenience. When you visit the Library, please bring a valid photo ID. If your ID does not show your current Greenwich address, please bring in a piece of mail, such as a utility bill, or a mortgage or lease contract that shows your current address. Your card will be valid for 5 years; upon its expiration, please come in to the Library with current identification so that we may update your address and personal information.
  • Children may obtain their own Perrot library card! We are now offering children’s library cards beginning at birth. A parent or guardian must come in with the child and provide identification on his/her behalf. Children’s library cards are issued at the Youth Services Desk. Our children’s cards are also valid for 5 years and may be used at the Greenwich Library and its Cos Cob and Byram branches. There is no need to reregister at Greenwich Library.
  • If you would like to link your family members’ library card records, please ask at the Circulation Desk or at the Youth Services Desk. This allows family members to pick up each other’s holds and to ask about checked out items, holds, and fines on family member cards.
  • Our Library Card Applications are available for download: Adult Library Card Application [PDF] | YA Library Card Application [PDF] (for ages 13-16) | Children’s Library Card Application [PDF] (for ages Birth-12) | Non-Resident Worker/Nanny Card Application [PDF]. Simply print and complete the appropriate form, and bring it into the library with a valid ID.
  • Non-residents who work for a company located in Greenwich are eligible to receive a library card. Please bring in a valid picture ID, proof of employment in Town (such as a pay stub or a letter from your employer), and fill out our non-resident worker library card application. Nannies may also receive a nanny card, after presenting a valid photo ID and a non-resident worker application signed by their employer (who must be a Greenwich resident and Greenwich libraries card holder). Non-resident children who attend school in Greenwich are also eligible for a library card. Please bring in a school ID or a letter verifying your child’s enrollment. All non-resident cards are valid for 1 year; you must reapply upon card expiration.
  • Through the borrowIT CT program, anyone who lives in the state of Connecticut can have their hometown library card information entered into our system for use in Town of Greenwich libraries. Please bring in your hometown library card and a valid photo ID. Note that your borrowing privileges at our libraries will expire when your hometown library card expires; you must have your card renewed at your hometown library before we can re-validate your card
  • If you do not live in Connecticut and do not work in Greenwich, you may purchase a library card for $125.00; the card will be valid for 1 year. Temporary summer residents may also purchase a library card for $35.00; it will expire October 1st of the current calendar year
