We offer three program sessions each year. Our Winter/Spring session runs from January through April, our summer session takes place during the month of July, and our Fall session runs from September through November. We have limited programming during May and June due to school outreach visits.

Program Descriptions
BABY STORYTIME
Fall 2023 Offerings:
* Mondays at 10 AM, September 11th-November 27th. No program on October 9th
* Thursdays at 11:30 AM, September 7th-November 30th. No program on November 23rd.
For Ages: 0 to 15 months. Children attend with an adult caregiver.
Registration: DROP-IN
Duration: 30 minutes
Description: Stories, songs, rhymes, and bounces encourage babies and their caregivers to explore language and pre-literacy skills.
TODDLER STORYTIME
Fall 2023 Offerings:
* Tuesdays at 10 and 10:45 AM, September 12th-November 28th
* Thursdays at 10 and 10:45, September 7th-November 30th. No program on November 23rd.
For Ages: 15 to 36 months. Children attend with an adult caregiver.
Registration: DROP-IN, Limited to the first 20 children and their caregivers to arrive.
Duration: 30 minutes
Description: Tunes and tales for 1- and 2-year-olds. 10 AM and 10:45 AM programs repeat.
STORIES AND STRETCHES
Fall 2023 Offerings:
* Wednesdays at 10 AM and 11 AM, September 27th-November 15th
* Fridays at 11 AM, September 29th- November 17th. No program on November 10th
For Ages: 18 months to 3 years. Children attend with an adult caregiver.
Registration: DROP-IN. Limited to the first 20 children and their caregivers to arrive.
Duration: 30 minutes
Description: Easy yoga poses, plus songs and stories. 10 and 11 AM programs repeat.
PRE-K YOGA STORYTIME
Fall 2023 Offerings:
* Fridays at 2 PM, September 29th-November 17th. No program on November 10th
For Ages: 4 to 5 years. Children attend with an adult caregiver.
Registration: DROP-IN. Limited to the first 15 children and their caregivers to arrive.
Duration: 30 minutes
Description: Movement and stories for preschoolers. Please bring a beach towel or yoga mat.
SING WITH ME
Fall 2023 Offerings:
* Thursdays at 4:30 PM on September 7th and September 21st
* Thursdays at 4 PM (Please note the earlier time!) on October 5th, October 26th, November 2nd, November 16th, and December 7th
For Ages: Families with children of all ages
Registration: DROP-IN
Duration: 30 minutes
Description: A family sing-along program with live music, featuring music teacher and guitarist Mr. Jim. Children attend with an adult caregiver.
READ TO A DOG
Fall 2023 Offerings:
* Thursdays from 3:45-4:45 PM on September 28th, October 19th, and November 9th
For Ages: All ages. (Younger children should have their adult nearby)
Registration: DROP-IN. No pre-registration required, but you may need to wait your turn until a dog is available. Please arrive between 3:45 and 4:30.
Duration: 1 hour
Description: Build your confidence by reading out loud to a friendly dog. All dogs are trained therapy dogs and great listeners! Participants may pick whatever they would like to read for the program, although library staff are always available for suggestions.
MAKE IT! @ PERROT
Fall 2023 Offerings:
* Tuesdays from 3:45-4:45 PM on September 19th and October 3rd
For Ages: 7-12 years (attended independently). Kids age 5-6 may sign up if they will be accompanied by an adult helper.
Registration: BY REGISTRATION ONLY. Stop by the Youth Services Desk or call us at 203-637-8802 to sign up. You can sign up for as many or as few meeting dates as you want. Limited to 14 participants.
Duration: 45 minutes to 1 hour
Description: Join us for a different cool project each meeting! We will supply all the materials. On September 19th, we will be “painting” with Sharpie permanent markers and rubbing alcohol on canvas. On October 3rd, we will be decorating trick-or-treat bags with spooky designs using the spray resist technique.
GARDENING WORKSHOPS WITH THE GARDEN CLUB OF OLD GREENWICH
Fall 2023 Offerings:
* Tuesdays from 3:45-4:45 PM on September 12th, October 10th, and November 28th
For Ages: 4 and up. Kids age 4-6 must be accompanied by an adult helper. Ages 7+ may attend independently.
Registration: BY REGISTRATION ONLY. Stop by the Youth Services Desk to sign up your child, or call us at 203-637-8802. You can sign up for as many or as few meeting dates as you want. Limited to 20 participants.
Duration: 1 hour
Description: Join us for a different gardening- or nature-related project each week. We will supply all the materials. On September 12th, we will be decorating clay pots and planting them with dwarf sunflower seeds. On October 10th, we will be making an allium flower craft, and kids will receive an allium bulb to take home and plant. On November 28th, we will be making bird feeders out of pine cones (Please note: We will be using sunflower seed butter and bird seed for this program. The bird seed comes from a plant that also packages peanuts and tree nuts).
LEARN TO KNIT
Fall 2023 Offerings:
* Tuesdays from 3:45-4:45 PM on October 17th, October 24th, November 7th, and November 14th
For Ages: 8 to 12 years

Duration: 1 hour
Description: Sit and knit with Perrot staff members Laurie and Tracey! Learn the basics of knitting and get started on your very own scarf. Please make sure you can commit to attending all 4 sessions, as the lessons will build on each other.
YOUNG WRITERS CLUB
Fall 2023 Offerings:
* Fridays at 4 PM on September 29th-November 17th. No program on November 10th
For Ages: 8 to 12 years

Duration: 1 hour
Description: Do you love writing? Want to improve your skills, meet other writers and share your work? Join the Young Writers Club, where you’ll learn about the art of storytelling, do fun writing prompts and create your own short stories.
YOUNG CRITICS’ CLUB (YCC)
Fall 2023 Meeting Dates:
* Wednesdays at 4 PM on September 20th, October 4th, October 18th, November 1st, November 15th, and November 29th
For Ages: Kids in Grades 6, 7, and 8
Registration: BY SPECIAL APPLICATION ONLY. Club is FULL for the 2023-2024 school year. Watch for applications for the 2024-2025 school year in May 2024.
Duration: 75 minutes
Description: At each meeting, Young Critics get to know each other better with a book-themed game, then grab a snack and discuss their recent reads. Ms. Jen and Mrs. Woodward booktalk a new book and share their new finds with the group. Young Critics get first dibs on these selections and rate and report back at the next meeting.
