Author Talk: “The Alchemy of Us,” by Author Ainissa Ramirez

Please join us for an Author Talk with Ainissa Ramirez, author of The Alchemy of Us: How Humans and Matter Transformed One Another, on Wednesday, February 21, at 7 pm, in the Program Room, Radcliffe Children’s Library, Perrot Memorial Library.

In this talk, scientist and science writer, Ainissa Ramirez, Ph.D., will discuss her new book The Alchemy of Us, which won the CT Book Award and was a finalist for the LA Times Book Prize.  This book unfolds how simple inventions shaped society. Ramirez will illuminate how everyday objects around us had a hand in changing language, politics, and even our bodies. 

Dr. Ramirez received her bachelor’s degree from Brown University and her doctorate from Stanford, both in materials science and engineering. She began her career as a scientist at Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill, New Jersey, and later joined the faculty at Yale. She now focuses all of her energy as a “science evangelist,” with a mission of making science understandable to audiences of all ages.  She lives in New Haven.
