Skinny House: Author Talk with Julie L. Seely
Wednesday, June 26th, 2019, at 7:30 PM
Perrot Memorial Library
Join us for an evening of local history with Julie L. Seely, author of Skinny House: A Memoir of Family, about her grandfather, Nathan Seely, and his famous 10-foot-wide house in Mamaroneck, New York. In 1923, Nathan established a successful construction company that built homes for African-Americans taking part in the Great Migration– then he lost it all during the Depression. Skinny House is a story of perseverance in the face of ruin, and a glimpse into the past of inventive, remarkable people who gracefully “made it” despite overwhelming societal and financial hurdles.
