Diabetes: Getting to Goal with Our Fork & Our Feet

Join Dietitian and Diabetes Educator Nancy Ryan, MS, RD, BC-ADM, CDCES, CD-N, Inpatient Diabetes Coordinator, Greenwich Hospital, for “Diabetes: Getting to Goal with Our Fork and Our Feet,” on Wednesday, November 15 at 7 pm, in the Youth Services Program Room, Radcliffe Children’s Library, Perrot Memorial Library.

Diabetes can feel overwhelming, whether the diagnosis is new or long-term. We will discuss recommended goals to manage diabetes and tools to help us reach our goals. Two powerful tools include our food choices and physical activity. We will talk about strategies to set us up for success during our diabetes journey toward our personal goals.

Nancy Ryan is a Registered Dietitian, Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) and is Board Certified in Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM). She is currently the Inpatient Diabetes Coordinator at Greenwich Hospital and led the hospital initiative to attain (2015) and maintain Joint Commission Advanced Disease-Specific Certification for Inpatient Diabetes Management, making Greenwich Hospital the first in CT to achieve this certification. In collaboration with the interdisciplinary diabetes team, she provides and supports diabetes-focused education of the healthcare team to meet standards of care for inpatients with diabetes. She also works with patients with diabetes to support glycemic management during admission and to address diabetes self-management knowledge and practice gaps.
