Join us for an enchanting evening of art and history with author Donna M. Lucey, as she discusses her newest book, Sargent’s Women: Four Lives Behind the Canvas. In this rich and multi-layered biography, based on original letters and diaries, Lucey illuminates four extraordinary women painted by the iconic high-society portraitist John Singer Sargent. Learn about Elsie Palmer, Sally Fairchild, Elizabeth Chanler, and the iron-willed Isabella Stewart Gardner, who scandalized Boston society and became Sargent’s greatest patron. All four women challenged society’s restrictions, risking public shame and ostracism.
