Perrot Library Welcomes Our New Director!

The Perrot Memorial Library Association Board is excited to announce the addition of Trish Tomlinson to the Perrot Library staff, as their eleventh Library Director. Trish joined the Perrot team in February after the retirement of Kevin McCarthy who served in the position for 27 years. “We’re thrilled to have Trish as our new Library Director,” said Board President Kathy McCormack. “Within weeks she has already put her extensive experience as a Library Director to work. Her leadership will help continue to grow Perrot Library’s services and programs and help us meet the ever-evolving needs of our patrons.”

Tomlinson joins Perrot Library with over 20 years of experience in leading public libraries in Massachusetts and Connecticut, with her most recent post at Plainville Public Library in Hartford County. “Libraries are places to discover new ideas and opportunities, and they provide a sense of place and belonging,” says Tomlinson. “What I find most rewarding about my career in public service is embodied in Perrot Library’s commitment to connecting community members with the power and joy of knowledge, cultural enrichment, and entertainment. Working in this beautiful historic building in the idyllic setting of Old Greenwich, alongside such enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff and Board members, is a joy and a privilege.”

Tomlinson was born and raised in Montclair, New Jersey, and received a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Studies from Rutgers University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in English from Providence College. After college, she spent nearly a decade in the public relations industry in New York City and Boston, specializing in consumer products, before pivoting to library work. Tomlinson and her family are currently in the process of relocating from West Hartford to the Greenwich area.
