Find your inner artistic voice at our “Exploring Watercolors With Hazel Jarvis” class on Friday, July 14, at 9 am. No prior experience is required.
Ms. Jarvis received a BA in History and Theory of Art from Sussex University in England. Upon moving to the United States, she studied botanical illustration in New York and, during a five-year residency in Tokyo in the 1990s, studied traditional Japanese painting.
Hazel started painting portraits of Iconic Women in 2016, in honor of Women’s history month. What started as a small project has grown and grown….During the Lockdown and subsequent months this interest in Iconic women took a new direction: Being inside and at home so much Hazel rediscovered her love of textiles. In the fall of 2020, she took an online course, “ Stitch your Story,” with Sue Stone, and has been exploring portraits in slow stitching since then.
Ms. Jarvis lives and teaches in Greenwich, Connecticut. For more information, visit her web site, and for an up-to-date view of her artwork, follow her on instagram @hazeljarvisstudio.
