Perrot P.I.s: Mystery Book Group March Book Discussion

Join us on Monday, March 31, at 7 pm in the Program Room, Radcliffe Building, for a discussion of Look Closer, by David Ellis. This is a drop-in program. Registration is not required. Refreshments will be served.

Simon and Vicky couldn’t seem more normal: a wealthy Chicago couple, he a respected law professor, she an advocate for domestic violence victims. A stable, if unexciting marriage. But one thing’s for sure … absolutely nothing is what it seems. The pair are far from normal, and one of them just may be a killer. When the body of a beautiful socialite is found hanging in a mansion in a nearby suburb, Simon and Vicky’s secrets begin to unravel. A secret whirlwind affair. A twenty-million-dollar trust fund about to come due. A decades-long grudge and obsession with revenge. These are just a few of the lies that make up the complex web…and they will have devastating consequences. And while both Vicky and Simon are liars, just who exactly is conning who?

David Ellis is a judge and an Edgar-award-winning author of ten novels of crime fiction, as well as eight books co-authored with James Patterson. In December, 2014, Dave was sworn in as the youngest-serving Justice of the Illinois Appellate Court for the First District. Ellis lives outside Chicago with his wife and three children.

Landscaping with Native Plants: A Zoom Program

Perrot Memorial Library and The Garden Club of Old Greenwich present, “Landscaping with Native Plants,” on Wednesday, April 2, at 7 pm, via Zoom.

For many years, maintaining a manicured lawn filled with ornamental plants was the standard, but this approach led to the disappearance of many animal species as we removed their food sources and shelter. In this talk, Jane Seymour, a wildlife biologist, will explain how we can restore these vital connections by incorporating native plants into our yards. By focusing on the importance of insects as a crucial part of the food web, she will show how a yard full of native plants can benefit birds, bees, butterflies, and humans alike, creating a more sustainable and biodiverse environment.

Jane Seymour is a wildlife biologist for the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s (CT DEEP) Wildlife Division. As the steward of the Belding Wildlife Management Area in Vernon, Jane manages a variety of wildlife habitats and provides environmental education. Her work focuses on promoting conservation efforts and fostering a greater understanding of local ecosystems.
