Children’s Programs

AUGUST EXTRAS SCHEDULE

We offer three program sessions each year. Our Winter/Spring session runs from January through April, our summer session takes place during the month of July, and our Fall session runs from September through November. We have limited programming during May and June due to school outreach visits.

Program Descriptions

BABY STORYTIME

For Ages: 0-15 months
Description: Stories, songs, rhymes, and bounces encourage babies and their caregivers to explore language and pre-literacy skills. Children attend with an adult caregiver. Masks are recommended for attendees ages 2 and up.
Duration: 30 minutes

TODDLER STORYTIME

For Ages: 15 to 36 months. Children attend with an adult caregiver.
Description: Tunes and tales for 1- and 2-year-olds. LIMITED TO THE FIRST 20 CHILDREN AND THEIR CAREGIVERS TO ARRIVE. Masks are recommended for attendees ages 2 and up.
Duration: 30 minutes

STORIES AND STRETCHES

For Ages: 2- through 5-year-olds. Children attend with an adult caregiver.
Description: Easy yoga poses, plus songs and stories for ages 2-5. LIMITED TO THE FIRST 20 CHILDREN AND THEIR CAREGIVERS TO ARRIVE. Masks are recommended for attendees ages 2 and up. 
Duration: 30 minutes

PRE-K STORYTIME

For Ages: 3, 4- and 5-year-olds. Children attend with an adult caregiver.
Description: Rhymes, songs, and book-sharing. Masks are recommended for attendees ages 2 and up.

SING WITH ME

For Ages: Families with children of all ages 
Description: A family sing-along program with live music, featuring music teacher and guitarist Mr. Jim. Children attend with an adult caregiver. Masks are recommended for attendees ages 2 and up.
Duration: 30 minutes
Summer 2022 Offerings: 
* DROP-IN, Thursday at 4:30 PM on August 18th
Fall 2022 Offerings: TBA

 

STUFF AND NONSENSE

For Ages:  Kids in Grades K & 1. Children attend independently, but caregivers must remain in the Youth Services Wing for the duration of the program. 
Description: A program of exciting stories– plus a craft! Masks are recommended for attendees. Spaces are limited– please stop by the Youth Services Desk, or call us at 203-637-8802 to sign up your child.
Duration: 1 hour
Fall 2022 Offerings: TBA

 

SPOTLIGHT

For Ages: Kids in Grades 2 & 3. Children attend independently, but caregivers must remain in the Youth Services Wing for the duration of the program. 
Description: Non-Fiction books and stories– plus a craft!  Masks are recommended for attendees. Spaces are limited– please stop by the Youth Services Desk, or call us at 203-637-8802 to sign up your child.
Duration: 1 hour

DEBATE CLUB

For Ages: 8-12.
Description: A chance for kids to flex their critical thinking muscles by participating in a public forum-style debate with fun topics like “Should kids have a bedtime?” and “Should kids wear uniforms to school?” Masks are recommended for attendees. Spaces are limited– please stop by the Youth Services Desk, or call us at 203-637-8802 to sign up your child.

YOUNG CRITICS’ CLUB (YCC)

For Ages: Kids in Grades 6, 7, and 8 
Description: Book talks and book sharing for young readers. For AVID readers only! Club is full for the 2022-2023 school year.
Duration: 75 minutes
Fall 2022 Meeting Dates:
* Wednesdays at 4 PM on September 14th, September 28th, October 12th, October 26th, November 9th, and November 30th

STUFF & NONSENSE/SPOTLIGHT/DEBATE CLUB 

  • Please stop by the Youth Services Desk or call us (203-637-8802) to sign up your child–- spaces are limited 
  • Children must be in the correct grade/be the correct age for the program (Grades K & 1 for Stuff & Nonsense, Grades 2 & 3 for Spotlight, ages 8-12 for Debate Club)
  • You, your child, or your child’s caregiver MUST have an active library card in good standing to be eligible for enrollment in Perrot Library’s programs for children
