Author Tamar Adler in Conversation with Food Writer and Editor Colman Andrews

April 26, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Join Perrot Library and Waste Free Greenwich on Wednesday, April 26, at 7 pm, for an inspiring and educational culinary event with James Beard and IACP award-winning author, Tamar Adler, about her new book, The Everlasting Meal Cookbook: Leftovers A-Z.  Internationally known food writer and editor Colman Andrews will lead the discussion on inspiring, money-saving ways to make meals satisfying, delicious, and, of course, less wasteful.

April 26th happens to be “Stop Food Waste Day,” aiming to teach people ways to reduce food waste. “We are thrilled to partner again with Perrot Library on this event with Tamar Adler about her much-anticipated cookbook,” said Julie DesChamps, founder of Waste Free Greenwich. “What better way to spend ‘Stop Food Waste Day’ than with Ms. Adler, in conversation with Colman Andrews, about environmentally responsible ways to cook.”

The Everlasting Meal Cookbook: Leftovers A-Z is an encyclopedia of leftovers and features a foreword by Alice Waters. The cookbook is organized by unused ingredients, from apple peels to potato chip crumbs and carrot tops to Dorito dust, with thousands of easy and creative ideas for what to do with them.

The discussion will take place “on the green” in the Youth Services Department, Radcliffe Children’s Library at Perrot Library and will be followed by a book signing with books available for sale by Athena Books. This in-person event is free but attendees should pre-register for the event by clicking here.

Tamar Adler is an acclaimed food writer, contributing editor at Vogue, has been a New York Times Magazine columnist and the host of the Luminary podcast, Food Actually. She is a former professional cook, cooked at Chez Panisse, and has previously written the books Something Old, Something New and An Everlasting Meal. Ms. Adler lives with her family in Hudson, New York.

Colman Andrews, an internationally known food writer and editor, was a co-founder and editor-in-chief of Saveur and vice-president and editorial director of TheDailyMeal.com. He is the author of nine works on food, including cookbooks about the cuisines of Catalonia and the Italian Riviera, a biography of influential Catalan chef Ferran Adrià, an appreciation of American food products, and a memoir, My Usual Table: A Life in Restaurants. Andrews is the winner of eight James Beard Awards, including Cookbook of the Year in 2010 for The Country Cooking of Ireland. A native of Los Angeles, he now lives in Connecticut with his wife, sportswear and lingerie designer Erin Walker.
